Let's Introduce
Citsabha collective
Promoting and nurturing classical artforms
CITSABHA COLLECTIVE (pronounced CHI-TH-SA-BHA) is a Public Charitable Trust (reg. number: HLS-4-00695-2017-18) that was co-founded by Srividya Angara and Odissi dancer Shubha Nagarajan. The Trust formed in February 2018 aims to present both traditional and new works in Indian classical music and dance.
An 80G and CSR Form-1 certified organization, Citsabha Collective’s clear intent is to promote and nurture the classical art forms through not only traditional performance formats but also through novel ideas, collectively and consistently working towards imbibing an appreciation for the classical art forms.
Objectives
Empowering through Arts
To expose children and young adults from lesser-privileged backgrounds to the Indian classical performing arts. This undoubtedly creates a healthier and more holistic environment for growth as an individual.
Diverse Art Showcase
To showcase classical instruments like Veena and Violin etc and also rarer instruments like Jaltarang, Rudraveena etc, and also dance and theatre art forms like Kuchipudi, Odissi, Koodiyattam, Kalaripayattu etc for the benefit of children, guardians and faculty.
Talent Discovery Program
To identify and nurture proficient and prodigious children who could be future practitioners of dance, music or theatre, or all of the above.
Cultural Archives
To establish an audio-video library of different classical styles of the Indian sub-continent.
Initiatives
In Focus
Teaching classical dance and music to children of economically-challenged backgrounds. This can be done through
- regular classes
- specifically conducted workshops
- audio-visual knowledge transfer programs where the artist is speaking/demonstrating from a remote location.
Workshops
Designed as lecture-demonstrations. Children will be exposed to different arts through this.
Dance or music intensives. Children will be specifically taught certain pieces of the repertoire and then be asked to collectively perform at the end of a 5 or 6-day intensive.
On related topics such as health and nutrition, personality development etc, thus leading to an integrated and all-round growth of the child.
